I wouldn’t let you go… but not in a stalker-like way. I just loved you from the beginning. I saw so much in you…. I loved you forever then. And I love you forever now.

When he asked me to marry him, I told him that if we were to marry, it would be for keeps. Then I said “yes”.

I had traveled out of town on an extended holiday. While I was going, I felt this huge void in my heart and soul. It was really powerful. I knew at that time I wanted and needed him in my life; I wanted to share everything with him.

I knew I was in love when he came to Iowa City to take dance lessons. This was on a weeknight and going from Iowa City to Waverly was a long way in one night. I found the experience of being willing to be patient, look silly in public and do something I liked very special.

Our treasure: An all-inclusive vacation. We have done this three times before and really enjoy it. It gives us a chance to refuel and remember whey we married each other in the first place.

When he left for a trip to China 2 weeks after our meeting, I made him a collection of letters to open each day so that he would know I was thinking about him. That was not something I would normally do! He just accepted me for who I am and that meant a lot to me.

I remember exactly what he was wearing and being in the Fashion Design program at Iowa State his attire said it all for me! He had a pale pink button-down on. This was before guys in Iowa were secure enough to grasp onto the trend. I didn’t know it at the time, but as I look back at that moment I probably fell in love with him… To this day I won’t let him get rid of that pink shirt!

I realized she loved me for who I was. She wasn’t trying to change me into the man that she wanted to date, be with or marry. | …he had placed flower petals and had written a poem that ‘trailed’ me upstairs where he got down on one knee and proposed.

I knew from the first time we met; it was a never-ending conversation. We were so different in the way we had lead our lives but we were also the same | There was a certain trust and he felt comfortable, and all the pieces just fit, without being forced.

I don’t know when it was that I realized she’s the One, but I know it was one morning I woke up knowing I had a very stressful and very long day ahead, but I was still smiling because I knew that in the end of the day I would see Arun. And thus far, I never met someone who made me feel like that.

The official proposal took place Washington, Iowa. I picked the ring up earlier that day and we traveled to Cafe Dodici where we had reservations to eat and stay in celebration of our one-year anniversary. I had heard the city has a fountain in the square which they light in the evening. It seemed like an ideal place after dinner to pop the question. However, after exiting the restaurant, the square was totally dark and the fountain dry. It had apparently closed for the season. Holding the ring in my pocket, as I had through dinner, we decided to head up to our suite. I remember helping her remove her shoes as she sat on the couch, which conveniently positioned me on my knees. After telling her I loved her she responded… “I love you more”…at which point I removed the ring from my pocket and replied, “I don’t think so.”
